Villa Poggio Torselli

La villa nasce nel XV secolo per volere della Famiglia Macchiavelli. Nei secoli successivi la proprietà passa agli Angiolini, ai Corsini, ai Macalli ai Capponi, agli Antinori eld infine nel XVIII secolo agli Orlandini del Beccuto. Un suggestivo viale di cipressi conduce al suo accesso, formando una prospettiva che si allarga poi a tutta l'elegante facciata in un ampio piazzale semicircolare. Il giardino risalente probabilmente alla la fine del XVII secolo è circondato da alberi da frutto nani, rose antiche e erbe aromatiche La collezione di agrumi in vaso, conservata nella stagione fredda in una splendida serra è particolarmente rinomata. This villa was built in the 15th century for the Machiavelli family. In later centuries the property passed into the hands of the Angiolini, the Corsini, the Macalli, the Capponi, the Antinori and finally, in the 18th century to the Orlandini del Beccuto family. The building stands at the end of a charming cypress-lined avenue, which forms a perspective view leading to the elegant façade, in the semi-circular forecourt. The garden, which dates back to around the 17th century, is surrounded by dwarf fruit trees, ancient roses and aromatic herbs; irrigation is by means of a system of serena stone channels created at the time the garden was laid out. The garden is well known for its collection of potted citrus trees, which are kept in a splendid hothouse during the colder months of the year. The villa and garden were recently restored to their former glory.
